Welcome! My name is Ginny Bartolone and I am an actor and writer living in New York City with my husband and our two kitties, Viola and Tiber.
You can find more info about my professional life at GinnyBartolone.com.
Below is my original “About Me” page from 2010, kept intact to honor my early writing days.
Well, here I am, starting my first blog. Private at first, but perhaps someday I will let anyone interested look it over. (Update from 5.15.12: I love how I wrote this back when I never thought I’d have the guts to share it! So glad I did!) Mainly, this is to stretch my writing muscles with the possibility of someone else giving feedback if I suddenly get that confident.
A bit about the title of this blog: Sometime during college, my friends and I began using the expression “maybe there will be cupcakes!” every time we had to go somewhere unpleasant. It’s pretty powerful. Next time you have to go to well, say…a frustrating job, the DMV, or even the dentist, give it a try! The potentiality of cupcakes being involved tends to make the whole idea much more bearable.
Yet as life would have it, I began working at a popular cupcake chain in New York City when I first moved here. The job came VERY close to killing the magic of this expression for me, and my love of baked goods altogether. But I ran for the hills, or to teaching kindergartners really, and now I have happily returned to seeking out fantastic bakeries to lighten up my day.
I’m an actress, and I am in New York City finally embracing it. Theatre was woven throughout my childhood, and I decided at a young age that this was going to be my career. Period. No excuses. No pressure or anything, thanks childhood self. Still, this idea keeps me going when each person (and the left side of my brain) tells me that this lifestyle is unsustainable. Also, I’m 24, recently moved from the middle-of-the-woods New Jersey, and obsessed with cooking. I don’t know how to do it yet, but I’m hoping the obsession will lead to that.
Since talking about who I am makes me feel odd, here are some random points:
-I would like to own a parrot one day
-I hiked 500 miles across Spain
-I would like to base my life around education, travel, and art.
-I’m terrified of drowning, but I love boats.
-I love swings, and created an Olympic category for swings my backyard with my sister when I was a kid.
-I’m about 2 years behind each fashion trend, and I love pajama pants.
-And I have no clue how to make this single spaced again.
-I eat about 3 spoonfuls of peanut butter a day. Plain on a spoon. Speaking of which…
